Traditional Peruvian craftsmanship combined with a German promise of quality. Alpacas are extraordinarily valuable animals. Their wool is an exquisite raw material and a noble gift from nature. No animals are harmed in the production of the materials; neither for the wool from the annual shearing nor for the fur obtained as a by-product. In addition to the incredible softness, this is the absolute unique selling point of WEICH textiles. With these ethically sound products, you can enjoy natural and sustainable luxury.

The origin

The history of alpacas has a long tradition dating back 6,000 years. The royal families of the Incas domesticated the peaceful animals and revered them for their unique fur and the special properties of alpaca fiber.
Alpacas are still Peru's sacred animal today. Their wool provides a livelihood for many Peruvian farmers. Of the approximately 4 million animals worldwide, around 90% live in the Peruvian Andes. Alpacas are usually kept in small herds of 80 to 100 animals at altitudes of up to 5,000 meters.
